Do child therapists commonly mimic Santa Claus?

I feel a bit ridiculous asking this question.
I feel a bit ridiculous asking this question.
I have on more than one occasion come across middle-aged shrinks with great white beards, merry laughs, and thick girths, and noted this to be peculiar.
A friend of mine proposed that this was a trick used in order to ease interactions with children, by associating themselves with Santa Claus.
Is there merit to this theory, or is it just a weird coincidence on my part? Has anyone else come across Santa-mimicry among child therapists?

The only person i ever saw when i was a kid who might have been able to help psychologically was female, and that was in high school.
That was when i first became aware of how psychology can help people.
